In this, one may glimpse the outlines of an alternate (Catholic?), self-effacing modernity — the loss of control and ontological rejection of mastery in the work of Henri Michaux and Bram van Velde; the descriptive silence of Roger Bissière and the literal silence of Simon Hantaï and Michel Parmentier; Yves Klein’s fascination with the immaterial; and Martin Barré’s relinquished subjective control (to the benefit of arbitrary systems). Other examples include Marc Devade’s insistence on the dissolution of the painter’s identity in experiences of excess and expense (as defined by Georges Bataille) and Christian Bonnefoi’s synthesis of Hantaï’s “blind” painting technique and Barré’s layering, along with the work of younger “protocol” painters such as Bernard Piffaretti or Jean-Francois Maurige. Such instances of artistic self-abnegation have been eclipsed in the US by a Protestant Reductivist Modernist juggernaut hellbent on upholding the values of production.

Chem-Trend GmbH (Maisach, Germany, and Howell, Mich.) showcased its Chemlease 2185, a new-generation, semipermanent, one-part, room-temperature curing wax hybrid release agent that is effective for composites, including those with polyester matrices. The agent reportedly provides a long-wearing release film, assuming proper mold preparation and application, and the company claims that the release enables easy, multiple demoldings. It does not require an extended cure, and it allows users to save a production step because a sealer is not required. It is available as a ready-to-use liquid dispersion.
Also improving the environment is IPC’s Intersleek fouling control system, based on novel elastomer technology. Unlike conventional anti-fouling paints which use biocides to control fouling, Intersleek works by providing a smooth, low-energy surface onto which fouling organisms can’t get a firm grip. As no biocides are released, marine life is unharmed.
Si2 made its maiden flight on June 2, 2014, taking off from Payerne Airport, Switzerland, at 5:36 a.m. on a cloudy morning. With test pilot Markus Scherdel at the controls, it flew for two hours and 17 minutes, reaching an altitude of 1670m/5,492 ft before landing. Although global circumnavigation is still ahead, Rocher is convinced that “without TPT lightweight material, Si2 would not be able to fly around the world.”
Results of their efforts were two new products: one, called Baltoflake Ecolife, is a high-build polyester coating reinforced with glass flakes which also blocks the penetration of moisture. It contains no health-threatening isocyan-ates, styrene or lead tar.
Jute floor coverings consist of woven and tufted and piled carpets. Jute Mats and mattings with 5 / 6 mts width and of continuous length are easilly being woven in Southern parts of India, in solid and fancy shades, and in different weaves like, Boucle, Panama, Herringbone, etc. Jute Mats & Rugs are made both through Powerloom & Handloom, in large volume from Kerala, India. The traditional Satranji mat is becoming very popular in home decor. Jute non-wovens and composites can be used for underlay, linoleum substrate, and more. Jute has many advantages as a home textile, either replacing cotton or blending with it. It is a strong, durable, color and light-fast fibre. Its UV protection, sound and heat insulation, low thermal conduction and anti-static properties make it a wise choice in home decor. Also, fabrics made of jute fibres are carbon-dioxide neutral and naturally decomposable. These properties are also why jute can be used in high performance technical textiles.
Although the new product is based on previous SPRINT CBS technology that uses epoxy-based resin and a similar structure/ply schedule, the chemistry has changed throughout the laminate (surface film, semipregs and syntactic core), and scrims have been eliminated from the surface films, says Gurit’s managing director Martin Starkey. The new system reportedly provides better fiber wetout, greater thermal stability/higher glass-transition temperature (Tg), faster cure and a very low, controllable exotherm — properties usually not found together. Although other epoxy producers offer high-Tg grades (typically for aerospace use), the cycle time usually goes up with the Tg. Gurit’s new proprietary formulation delivers high Tg with shorter cycles. Starkey also says that its epoxide expertise and long experience molding thick laminates for wind turbine blades and boat hulls helped Gurit control exotherm while significantly reducing cure time.
ArmaFORM PET Foil is a highly ecological material like all other ArmaFORM PET products, reducing cumulative energy demand and carbon dioxide emissions significantly on comparison with other commercially available products. It is a 100% recycled product made from the recyclate of PET bottles. This means 100% of production scrap is reused for manufacturing.
For most of the past 36 years, the snow walkers have been sold in toy stores. But their biggest merchandising impact may be with clothing, where AT-AT T-shirts have become kind of a wearable meme.
In this Brompton Design District project, London design gallery Sigmar and Czech design collective Okolo delve into the complicated history of Prague’s Hotel Praha. Long regarded as a symbol of the city’s communist rule, the hotel was demolished in 2014, but not before a few furniture pieces were smuggled out. In the show, Sigmar’s Ebba Thott and Nina Hertig display a handful of these modern furnishings against a backdrop of Okolo-designed scrims showing imagery of the original hotel interior. 3 Yeoman’s Row.
